Masdar

When you mention the word ‘Masdar’ in almost any major city, the word ‘green’ will be part of the response. Masdar, a subsidiary of state-owned Mubadala Development Company, is geared up to be a key player in Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification strategy, which aims to reduce the nation’s dependence on oil production.

Leveraging alternative sources of renewable energy and clean technology to generate positive social and financial returns is central to Masdar’s business model. The company today holds interests in Masdar Clean Energy, Masdar City and Masdar Capital, in line with the UAE’s 2050 Energy Strategy. Masdar City is designed to be the most environmentally sustainable city in the world. The low-carbon, low-waste city relies entirely on renewable energy. A hub for clean technology companies, it secured 147 new company registrations in 2016 alone.

Today, Masdar City hosts over 450 companies from six continents, including Siemens, Lockheed Martin, General Electric and Schneider Electric. To foster growth and promote youth leadership in the area of sustainability, Masdar City is also home to The Masdar Institute, a graduate-level research university that focuses on alternative energy, environmental sustainability and clean technology.

Masdar has set new standards for green developments across the globe, which have made it the company of the future.
