Bee’ah

Founded in 2007 through an Emiri decree by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Bee’ah is a public-private partnership committed to elevating Sharjah to the environmental capital of the Middle East and achieving zero-waste-to-landfill goals.

Today, Bee’ah remains true to the vision that inspired its inception. Its aptitude for inspiring positive change has encompassed the entire Middle East and North Africa region, where it advocates the concept of a circular economy, which ensures recycling, recovery and reintegration into the economy. The company engages in innovative integrated waste-management solutions, renewable energy generation aim to cultivate environmental responsibility among all UAE residents.

Bee’ah’s Waste Management Centre at Al Saj’ah houses some of the region’s most advanced and complex facilities, which enable UAE residents and organisations to efficiently and safely dispose of paper, plastic, tyres, rubber, vehicles, metal and construction and demolition waste.

Complementing its interest in renewable energy, Bee’ah has entered into a partnership with Masdar to establish the Emirates Waste to Energy Company, which is currently building the UAE’s first waste-toenergy plant in Sharjah. Bee’ah also maintains interests in air and water management, facilitating research and deploying technology to monitor the pollution levels and quality of the atmosphere.

The company also advocates environmental action through its consultancy services and environmental awareness and education programmes. For instance, the Bee’ah School of Environment is a bilingual online and offline programme that aims to raise a greener generation, having benefited over 200,000 students and 5,000 teachers across the UAE thus far.
