Dubai World Cup

Founded in 1996 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai World Cup is one of the richest thoroughbred horse racing events in the world. With a grand prize of AED37 million ($10.1 million), the entertainment-filled annual spectacle is usually held on the last Saturday of March, attracting international royalty and millions of viewers around the world.

The event concludes with a concert, with the likes of Sia, Jennifer Lopez and Janet Jackson having graced the Dubai World Cup stage. Extending the excitement of the single-day Dubai World Cup, the Dubai World Cup Carnival features 10 races throughout January and March, with various high-profile personalities, owners and jockeys thronging to the race track en route to glory.

The official dress rehearsal for the Dubai World Cup, Super Saturday, is another fan favourite. The event allows trainers to put the finishing touches to their equine stars before the auspicious day. More than a horse race, the Dubai World Cup is now considered a major sports phenomenon across the globe.
