Emaar is responsible for globally recognised projects such as the Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall, which respectively are the largest tower and mall in the world. Both developments are housed within the group’s flagship 500-acre development, Downtown Dubai, the world’s most visited lifestyle destination.
The group was founded in 1997 by Mohamed Alabbar, a top advisor to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to accelerate the realisation of His Highness’ vision for Dubai and the UAE. The group’s portfolio spans top tier projects within real estate, both residential and commercial. When it comes to Emaar, it, quite literally, does not get any bigger.
On the residential front, Emaar garnered praise for the development and management of high-end communities such as the Arabian Ranches, The Hills and The Springs, all of which present unique themes and lifestyles to suit every resident. In so doing, the group offered thousands of expats the chance to own their property in the UAE.
In 2005, Emaar Hotels & Resorts teamed up with Giorgio Armani S.p.A. to create one of the nation’s most refined hotels, the Armani Hotel, located on the first 11 floors of the Burj Khalifa. The company continues to be recognised for excellence in every segment in which it operates. It takes home a number of domestic and international awards annually: Address Palace Downtown Hotel was selected as ‘Modern Luxury Hotel of the Year’ in Africa and the Middle East for 2017; the Armani Hotel earned the title of ‘World’s Leading Design Hotel 2017’; and the Burj Khalifa was been named the ‘World’s Best Attraction’ for 2015.
Emaar has its sights set on breaking its own record with the announcement of plans for The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour, which is set to stand 100 metres taller than the Burj Khalifa.
