Dubai Opera

In the past, had you used the words ‘opera’ and ‘spectacular’ in the same sentence, most people’s minds would have first turned to Sydney Opera House. That changed, however, when Dubai welcomed its own opera venue in August 2017. Designed by Janus Rostock, the dhow-shaped building comfortably seats over 1,900 guests and, thanks to its multi-format design, can be used to host concerts, events and banquets, as well as some of the world’s and the nation’s leading musicals and operas. The Dubai Opera frequently hosts award-winning musicals such as Cats, Les Misérables, West Side Story and Mary Poppins.

The Dubai Opera passionately embraces its role of being the creative heart of the city, both producing and hosting the finest and most engaging performing arts experiences. Located in Downtown Dubai, the Opera District is home to many cultural hubs, including art galleries, museums and design studios. It is also home to a retail plaza and multiple residential towers, hotels and recreational spaces.

The Dubai Opera has become such a popular destination that no trip to the city would be complete without a visit to the iconic structure, which pays homage to the nation’s rich maritime history.
