Gulf News

Founded in 1978, Gulf News is one of the most widely read English-language dailies in the UAE. Having struggled in its early days, the company was acquired in 1984 by three visionary businessmen, Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, the late Abdullah Al Rostamani, and Juma Al Majid, who formed Al Nisr Publishing Group and vowed to make Gulf News their flagship publication.

With a renewed outlook, strategy and resources, the paper experienced a more than 40 percent increase in advertising in the first three months following its transformation and has sustained growth ever since, currently enjoying an average daily circulation of over 111,000 in print and around 1.3 million unique visits to its site every month.

Gulf News is the first newspaper to publicly endorse the region’s intellectual scene through supporting such events as the Arab Strategy Forum, which explores the region’s geopolitical challenges and opportunities. In addition to this, the paper has also become a major campaigning voice in the UAE thanks to its multiple social initiatives, which include Go-Green and Make It Safe. The brand further seeks to nurture the local community by hosting and supporting events such as the Gulf News Fun Drive, Terry Fox Run, and Roadstar.

Throughout the past four decades, Gulf News has grown from a newspaper to a pillar of the UAE cultural sphere.
